Banana Peels Fertilizer: Ways to Use Banana Peels for Plants

How to turn banana peels into a fertilizer. When you eat bananas, you should never throw away the peels. This is because banana peels can be reused in many ways and all of them quite useful.

If you have a vegetable garden, for example, the substances contained in the peels of this magnificent fruit can function as an excellent fertilizer once we have steeped them.

Rich as they are in potassium, vitamins and magnesium, banana peels are in fact an excellent natural fertilizer. For example, for roses: not only do the peels make the soil more fertile, but they also help keep away aphids, which are a serious threat to roses.

The peels should be cut into strips with scissors or a knife and then should be month to dry in a dark, dry room. If you want to speed up the process, you can also use an oven, at a temperature that is not too high.

Before employing banana peels as a natural fertilizer, it is a good idea to remove a layer of soil around the roses and fill in the space we have cleared with the peels, after which the potting soil is put back in place.

If you then want to keep pests away, it may be helpful to dig a little more and scatter some wood ash on the soil.

But some people also boil the peels and then add the resulting mixture to the water they use to water their plants.

But peels can also be used for mulching. In this case they need to dry in a dark, dry room before using them.

When you have set aside a few pounds of peels, it will be enough to blend them in a food processor and then spread the resulting mixture around plants (for example, around rose bushes: this should be done in the spring).

But there is also a much easier way to make use of banana peels as a fertilizer: just chop them into very small pieces and then soak them in water and let them soak for at least an hour.

With this procedure all the useful substances that are in the peels pass to the water, which after being filtered can be sprayed on the plants with an atomizer.
